When everyday life feels harder than it should, you don't have to carry it alone.
At Valor Counseling, we help teens and adults in Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, Keller, Roanoke, and surrounding areas understand what's happening in their mind and body, and equip them with real tools to move forward.
If this sounds familiar, you're not imagining it.
"I don't feel like myself anymore."
"My reactions confuse me — or scare me."
"I feel constantly on edge and I can't shut my mind off."
"I feel hopeless — like nothing is going to get better."
"I keep snapping at my kids and the littlest thing sets me off."
"Even small changes in my schedule give me heart palpitations."
"I'm exhausted in a way that more sleep won't fix."
"I know I need help. I just don't know where to start."
When symptoms become unmanageable, it's often a sign that your mind and body are carrying more than they were designed to carry alone.

When nothing changes, the weight just gets heavier.
When you've been managing your symptoms alone for long enough, it stops feeling like a rough patch and starts feeling like this is just who you are now.
The sleep problems don't resolve. The emotional reactions get harder to control. Parenting feels heavier. Relationships feel more strained. The same cycles repeat, and the window between "I'm fine" and "I'm not okay" keeps getting smaller.
Ignoring what your mind and body are telling you doesn't make it quieter. It usually makes the next chapter harder.
You're not broken. But you may be carrying something that was never yours to carry alone.
“My hope is that you’ll leave knowing what's going on, why it's happening, and exactly what to do about it.”
You deserve more than someone who just listens.
I know how much courage it takes to reach out, and I know that by the time most people do, they've been carrying it for a long time. As a wife, mother, and former foster parent, I've lived the weight of hard seasons. I understand what it feels like when life becomes more than you can manage on your own, and I've seen how healing changes everything — not just for you, but for the people around you.
21+ years of clinical experience. Trained in EMDR and DBT, I help clients understand what's actually happening in their brain and body, and teach practical tools to respond to stress, emotional reactivity, and trauma-related symptoms. I offer a warm, relational approach combined with real clinical depth.
Getting started is simpler than you think.
Schedule an appointment.
Call or email to schedule your first appointment. If you'd prefer to ask questions first, that's okay too.
You don't need to have the right words or a diagnosis. You just need to be ready.
Understand what's happening.
Together, we'll build a picture of what's really going on beneath the surface.
Gain tools to move forward.
You'll develop real skills and insight to manage your life with greater confidence, stability, and clarity.
After working with Valor Counseling, life won’t become perfect, but it can become yours again.
The goal isn't to remove every stressor. It's to stop being controlled by them.
“It is hard to write about someone you feel has given you your life back and has done so with such compassion and steady strength. I have been able to question the very foundations I have built so many of my truths on without making the world around me crumble. With Angie, I have achieved long term and short term goals. EMDR has helped me with my psychologically abusive upbringing and I am able to get past the emotional triggers that have plagued me in the past”
-Valor Client
Healing at the root, not just the surface.
Many clients come to Valor for our unique blend of EMDR and talk therapy. EMDR helps your brain reprocess the way it stored a traumatic experience, so the memory loses its grip on your present-day reactions.
It's not about reliving the past, but rather unlinking what's getting in the way of you managing what's right in front of you. Most clients benefit from a combination of approaches, and we'll find the right mix for you.
Evidence-Based.
Recognized by the WHO and APA for treating trauma and PTSD.
Practical Results.
Clients often notice shifts in how they respond to triggers.
Root-Cause Focused.
Targets how the brain stores traumatic memories, not just symptoms.
A Blended Approach
Most clients benefit from combining EMDR with talk therapy. We tailor the mix to what you need.
